Happy Christmas to you all…

Being a holiday. my husband and children wanted to hv something special for lunch and brought chicken. I got fed up of making routine gravy curries , fries . Wanted to try something different. Fresh Spinach was luring me. Then I decided to use palak with chicken. If i use the palak as it  is, it would’t  look nice.. so tried a different way.. And i could get only three pieces  and little gravy in the end. pch..

chicken palak curry

Ingredients :

Chicken – 1 kg

Spinach – 4 bunches

Tomatoes – 2

Onion – 1

Ginger garlic paste – 1 1/2 tsp

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Red chillie powder – 1 1/4 tsp

Salt – 1/2 tsp

Garam masala powder – 1/4 tsp

Oil – 3 tbsp

Wash and blanch ( boil palak leaves  in water for five minutes and drain in colander) palak . When it  is  cool grind it into fine paste along with chopped tomatoes.  Heat oil in a pan and saute the onions till light brown.  Add turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, red chillie powder and saute for two minutes more.  Now add cleaned chicken pieces, salt and mix well. Cover with lid and cook on medium heat till the water evaporates. Add palak paste to the chicken mixture and mix well. After cooking for five minutes add garam masala, half a cup of water and cook till the pieces are well cooked and oil surfaces. This curry is good combination with rice and rotis. You can use green chillies instead of red chillie powder to make the curry in complete green.
