As we know Oats are good for health. Its low in calories and high in iron and fibre too.  I tried to make indian style upma with oats.

Ingredients :

Oats – 1 cup

Vegetables – 1/2 cup (beans, carrot, potato, capsicum)

Onion – 1

Green chillies – 2

Curry leaves – 2 sprigs

Coriander leaves -2 tsp

Ginger – 1 ” piece

Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp

Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp

Urad dal- 1 tsp

Chana dal – 1 tsp

Groundnut seeds – 1 tsp

Oil – 2 tsp

Water – 1 1/2 cup

Chop the vegetables into small cubes. Heat a pan and fry the oats without oil till they change their color and keep aside. Heat oil in the same pan and add cumin, mustard seeds. When they splutter add urad dal, chana dal, groundnut seeds and fry a litte. Now add chopped onion, green chillies and curry leaves . Fry for a min and add chopped vegetables. Fry them on medium heat till they become soft. Add the water and salt as required. When the water boils add oats and mix well. Reduce the heat and cook till the water evaporates completely.  Add chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with curd raitha and pickle..
